Well Played Zulily, Well Played

I love zulily but here is the problem.  They introduce you to products you didn't know existed and then suddenly you have to have what ever that product is.  This just happened to me with a product for iPad and iPhone cords and you know we all have those.  The company is called Nice and they are called Cable Keeps.  They are these adorable little fish things that hold the charger and keep the cord wrapped up and off the counter or floor.  You can even rest your phone on it too while it's charging and leave the cord wrapped up.
Charger not included and they come in cute colors.  We got light and dark blue and Zulily had them for $10.99.  The cords are off my kitchen counter and I am happy! And the product is Made in the USA :)

Great Wolf Lodge

It is time for another trip to Great Wolf Lodge!  It has become an annual tradition we look forward to.  Who doesn't want to get away in the middle of Winter and swim?  Well what a difference a year makes!  Last year we left Pierce (middle child) home and I had to pump in the hotel for him.  This year Pierce came and we left Reid home and I had to pump for him.  Actually I think we conceived Reid 3 days after we got home from Great Wolf last time.  Phew - time flies!  Ok so now that you are all caught up here are the details of the trip.

We took our oldest 2 with us to Great Wolf Lodge in Canada.  It is only about 25 minutes away from our house.  Actually it is right passed Clifton Hill, which if you are from Buffalo you know all about.  The drinking age in Canada is 19 so everyone around here went to Clifton Hill a time or two and got drunk before they could legally drink in the US.  Passports and birth certificates and a little stop at Wendy's and we were there!  My mom came to help us which was awesome because I am a nervous Nellie with the kids around water.  I don't know how we will ever take them all to the beach by ourselves.  I am that paranoid!  Honestly, none of us are strong swimmers.  And it turns out little Pierce has NO fear of the water at all.  He was getting knocked over by the waves and laughing his little swim diaper off.  I could barely breathe!  My mom was surprised to see how nice the accomodations really are.  We always get the Kid Cabin with three bunk beds and never use them because Brady always sleeps with us.  Well, a sure sign he is getting older :( he slept in the bunk beds with Grandma this year.  Which I will be honest kind of broke my heart a little.  Which means we slept with Pierce, who turns out to be quite the thrasher in the middle of the night.  Even with him sandwiched between mom and dad, he still managed to fall out of the bottom of the bed!  He was all right but we need to figure something out before our Disney cruise.  Maybe Disney will have a bed rail?  Or we could pad up a nice soft place for him to land?

We swam and swam and then headed to Clifton Hill for dinner.  We ate at Boston Pizza and Steve had the poutine fries again!  It's tradition.  And walking around Clifton Hill is realized it is a great place to take the kids when it isn't 32 degrees.  They have a lot of cool stuff for them to do.  And the Fall are right there too!  So we will be headed back once Buffalo thaws a bit.

The only person more tattooed than my hubby was his tattoo artist that was there.  Small World!

 Cotton Candy poolside

All tuckered out from swimming

2 of the most annoying guns ever were what the boys wanted for souvenirs.  They made for great alarm clocks!

Steve promised Brady a trip to the WWE store at Clifton Hill for a wrestler.  Well, heads up the wrestlers there cost $45 compared to $10 at Target.  So after getting ripped off (big time) Brady has a new wrestler and he wanted Hornswaggle.  For those who don't know, Hornswaggle is a little person so clearly this made the $45 price tag even harder to swallow!

I am a horrible packer.  I always forget something.  Well this time it was pacifier for Pierce.  Pierce will only suck on a soothie, the kind you get from the hospital when they are born.  The kind that you can't use one of those pacifier connectors and pin to his shirt so you have to pay close attention as to where it is at all times.  Well, the gift shop had 1 pacifier and it was not a soothie.  We held our breath.  Pierce must have known it was that or nothing so he actually sucked on it and thank goodness fell asleep after a few episodes of Caillou on the ipad.

We hit the arcade and the breakfast buffet with the characters in the morning and were home by noon.

It was a blast and we can't wait to go back!

Pierce the Peanut

It seems like every where you like these days we are reminded of America's weight problem.  I don't know about your pediatrician's office but ours is "in your face" about exercise, mealtimes, snacks, fruits, etc.  There is even a table with all kinds of beverages on it and their equivalent in table sugar next to each one.  I get it!  And I don't have an overweight child.  We have the opposite problem around here.  Our middle child is underweight.  I'm the kind of parent that doesn't really pay too much attention to those growth charts because they are for formula fed babies.  My babies are breastfed and breastfed babies tend to be leaner.  This is not just my opinion, it is a medical fact.  So basically my kids aren't going to be at 100% and that's ok.  But I do like them to at least be on the charts with those chubby bottle fed babies.

Pierce was doing great till he was 15 months old.  When he literally fell off the growth chart.  So we were told to give him more milk, butter and oil on his food.  Who wouldn't want extra butter?  We love butter!  We are the leave it right on the kitchen counter all the time butter people.  So it spreads better of course.  We can do extra butter.  Pierce was doing ok and then he decided he didn't want to drink milk anymore.  That threw a wrench in the works so to speak.  So much for carnation instant breakfast that was going to help him gain weight.  But at 18 months, he made it to the 4th percentile.  So the Dr. was happy and so were we.

Mr. Pierce had an earache last week, his first one ever.  He is 21 months now and the Dr. noticed he failed to gain even an ounce in 3 months.  Not Good.  Again he fell off the charts.  Apparently, a childs growth chart should be a nice, smooth curved line going upwards.  Well, our little peanuts is all jagged lines, with peaks and valleys and a very concerning horizontal line that shouldn't be there at all.  The weird thing is that Pierce eats all the time!  He eats better than our 5 year old.  He has been known to finish his dinner and then pull a "robbery" and eat off his brothers plate.  We are going to continue extra butter and fats with vitamins and hope his weight will pick up.  He has another weight check in 4 weeks.  If he fails to gain enough, he will have to have blood work to check his liver, kidneys and thyroid.  Just the thought of bloodwork for him breaks my heart.  So wish us luck trying to fatten up Pierce the Peanut over the next month.  He won't wear a hat if I put one on him, but if he finds a hat he will wear it all day inside the house!  Stinker.

Add Another One

Sorry for the readers who don't have kids yet.  Ya'll may want to avoid this blogpost.  But you know how there's that list of things you can't do or have once you have kids?  Well, in addition to owning white carpet/couches, peeing alone, getting out the door quickly, arriving on time, talking on the phone uninterrupted or watching a 90210 marathon all day in your pajamas, add wearing a string bikini bottom to the list.

I don't think that last one needs an explanation!  One tug from the under 2 crowd and you would be in trouble.  Can you tell I have been bathing suit shopping for Great Wolf Lodge and Disney? I'm just glad I figured it out trying on suits in my closet and not the resort.

Disney Part II

We did the Disney trip last year in May.  I know people say wait and take the kids when they are older and can remember.  But I think screw that!  Why should you wait to have fun with your kids.  We can afford it and mom and dad like vacations too.  Pierce loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Brady is a fan of Cars and loves to watch Disney movies.  When we went to Disney last year, Brady was in love with the hotel pool.  I mean come on it had a water slide people!  But so there we are in the middle of the happiest place on earth and Brady keeps asking when we are going back to the hotel.  Ugh!  And don't get me started on that hotel.  So this year I thought we would change it up.  We are doing a Disney Cruise.  Brady loves the characters and water (pools and slides) so it's perfect.  I have been told on a cruise you can't NOT see the characters, they are everywhere.  We are going on the Disney Dream, the one with the see-through water coaster that goes all around the ship.

We are ridiculously excited over here!  And we are taking little Pierce with us.  We have never traveled with one in diapers before so it should be interesting.  Obviously cloth will not be an option so paper diapers it is.  Steve will need to be medicated for the plane ride which unfortunately renders him completely useless as far as taking care of the children.  Hopefully I will have enough snacks, games, videos and play-doh to get us through.  I personally can't wait for the sun and to see Pierce's face when he sees Mickey!!  I could however wait to travel with a breast pump but if that's the worst of the trip we are OK.  We are going at the end of April before the big Birthday Month of May.  So Spring hurry up and get here!!
