Reid is 1!!!

That year flew by!!  But my baby is 1 so let's party!  And what better theme than baby mickey.  The boys in this house love Caillou and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  I got the cake from Dessert Deli

(like usual) and pizza and wings (hubs favorite) and its done.  We get our pizza from Just Pizza and it the best in my opinion (and many others).  And we discovered a while back they have Chiavetta's wings.  If you are from Buffalo you know what Chiavetta's is!

It's a marinade or sauce (but not bbq) that you can only get local and it is seriously delish!!  Back to the wings! OMG they are so stinkin' good I could eat 4.  Hahaha, meanwhile my husband orders 20 wings just for himself.  The weather was great that day and Reid was happy.  He took a good nap before the party.  My grandma had met a clown at one of her senior functions and insisted Sprinkles come to the party.  I kind of wanted to change the theme to a circus or big top party but it was too late.  Sprinkles was fun and the kids really enjoyed her and her magic.

Fun note about his outfit: I brought some baby stuff that I desperatly want to get rid of to Molly's for her garage sale.  And in her stuff she had a brand new Mickey outfit with tags still on it!  So yeah the birthday boy wore a garage sale outfit.  Thanks Molly!!  He enjoyed his cupcake and it turned out to be a great day.

Vegas Baby, Vegas

You are only 35 once right?  Well we did it up for my 35th!

We stayed at the Bellagio.

It was so nice and our room was great.  We could see the fountains and the strip.  The Bellagio is nice and centrally located too.

They had all this glass hanging from the ceiling and the conservatory was all decked out for Fall.  It was beautiful!
Our Room

Now that's a minibar!

Please don't think I am snobby because who complains about a hotel being nice?  Especially one as nice as the Bellagio? Me apparently - but hear me out.  It was almost too nice.  Most of the hotels have a food court or just a place to grab a slice of pizza before bed.  Not $20 gelato or a $15 fancy sandwich.  And the crowd, especially by the pool was a tad old.  No good music pumping or anything.  I almost wanted a younger scene but not too damn young.  I don't want to party with young tan barbies.  OK I will shut up now.

We went to Sammy Haggar's place Cabo Wabo Cantina where I had some delicious margarita's.  We laid out by the pool and then got all ready for Britney.  In case you didn't know I am in LOVE with Britney.  And her show was amazing!!  She "sang" 20 songs, all the faves!  and danced her little booty off.  Where the show takes place is not big and we had awesome seats.  I saw her up close and she is gorgeous and tiny!  Her show had smoke, fire, water, confetti and lights and it was fan-flippin-tastic!  Even the hubs liked it.  I caught him singing Hit me Baby One More Time in the shower the next day.

It's Britney people - you wear a party dress!
Get it - It's meatball at the Meatball Spot :)

The next day we checked out other hotels.  We went to New York, NY and rode the roller coaster.   I did not want to but meatball insisted.  It was terrifying, not exhilarating.

A 35 year old should take it easy and I was worried about the new hooters:)  Speaking of Hooters, we had lunch there and it was even better than I remembered when Buffalo had one.

20 wings Hot and breaded....yum!  We saw the sharks and turtles at Mandalay Bay, too.  I won't bore you with animal shots but I did think the turtles were cool and the saw shark.

Then we went back, laid in the hot desert sun for a little bit and then had dinner at BLT Steak.  I swear best steak of my life and saw a comedy show at the Riviera (scary) entitled "40 is NOT the new 20".  Very funny!

The 3rd day my actual birthday I woke up to a card from my hubs and a little present.  The Kate Spade bow bangle in silver.  I have the hardest time finding bangles in silver so I love this one!!

Then we checked out the dolphins and lions at The Mirage and shopped.  It was great.  I went to Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Christian Louboutin and took a little Gondola ride at The Venetian with the meatball.

And we had lunch at a really good Mexican restaurant recommended by a friend and you guessed right - more margarita's!!  More relaxing in the sun and then we went to see Tony & Tina's Italian Wedding.

It was a dinner show and it was very funny.  It was a lot like meatball's family :)  Then we got back to our hotel and the hubs surprised me with my favorite chocolate covered strawberries in bed.

Our last day we had breakfast in bed and then went out shopping a bit more.  Of course we ended up at the Harley Store.

Back to the pool to soak up the last of the sun.  And we headed to the airport to go home and see our babies.

And since I have naturally curly hair, I take into account the hairdryer when rating hotels.  I am happy to report the Bellagio had an awesome hairdryer.  That dryer and some S Factor and my hair was good to go!  Have I told you about S Factor?  Its amazing and it smells like strawberry shortcake.

Did I tell you I flew Southwest?  Yup I did, its the major airline flying in and out of Las Vegas.  I am a Jet Blue girl through and through.  What can I say - I'm a New Yorker.  And I'm a bit of a control freak so I like to have seats.  Also Meatball is obsessed with plane crashes.  So he likes to pick the back of the plane because apparently it is safer.  The dude watches way too many shows entitled "Air Disasters."  I like my tv and map in the seat in front of me so I will be back to Jet Blue with our next vacation :)

Thank God for facetime!!  I got to see my babies everyday and talk with them.  I loved Vegas but that plane ride was soooooo long.  And it reminded me a lot of NYC.  So maybe next time we will hit up NYC again.  I am so thankful for the trip and the time away with just the 2 of us.  Now let's not wait another 3.5 years to do it again :)

Party Time

September has been crazy around here!  Brady started school, 2 parties in 3 days and a little trip to Vegas.  My sister and I decided to throw my parent's a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party.  It was my idea and turned out great!  I found out how much I don't know my parents.  Like what is my mom's favorite color?  Now I know it's red.  Does my dad like to be called Cliff or Clifford? What is their favorite wine or beer?  See - lots of questions!  We went with a black and white theme, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.  My sister and I selected the menu but here is some of the choices we picked: filet and mushroom skewers, twice baked redskin potato bites, stuffed mushrooms, sesame chicken skewers, brie bruschetta, risotto and mozzarella balls, and did I mention the crab cakes.  OMG!  And of course cake - my personal fave.  :)

It was hard to find addresses and phone numbers for their friends in this day and age when no one has landlines anymore.  But we did it!  And didn't miss anyone :)  My parents were completely shocked.  They thought they were just having dinner at Rick's with my sister and her husband.  The hostess brought them upstairs to show them to their table and we all yelled surprise!!  Here's some pics:

  Surprise!!

Framed the invitation and stole this album from their house!
